The full quilt is a soft palette of denim blues, dark blues, creams and taupes with touches of lilac. There is a subtle circular design with a gentle self border of lighter fabrics (4 inches deep) and features fauna and flora from an autumn UK forest. This quilt measures 36 by 36" and would be ideal on the wall or to cuddle up under. The blocks are irregular sizes to give me more opportunity to incorporate larger designs. So month one will be the background only for the large stag panel, and month two will be the applique for the stag. Similar will happen later in the quilt to allow for a number of large birch trees along the left hand side. The quilt will incorporate a large stag, a fox, an owl, squirrels, and most likely a hare and a few smaller birds, possibly a hedgehog if I can squeeze him in. Lots of autumn leaves and warm colours in the applique.
The quilt itself is in my usual style, so it is a patchwork background with raw edge applique sewn with free motion embroidery. You don't need a fancy machine to sew it but your machine needs to be able to do free motion embroidery. The pattern contains basic instructions for the patchwork. I don't go into a lot of detail on patchwork as I am assuming that you know the basics but other than the odd half square triangle, it is all pretty simple.
Hopefully that all makes sense, but please don't hesitate to ask if anything is unclear.

I'm in love with the art of this quilt! Such talent! I bought the PDF pattern because I want to make it a bit bigger. The instructions are beyond amazing. She answers questions I didn't even know I had! Along with the detailed instructions on everything from threads, to cutting, to fabrics and assembly, there are photos that are so clear and crisp to follow along. The threads and fabrics are all listed by name and number so if you're looking for the fabrics she used no worries. I'm very excited about starting this quilt. I've already started collecting my fabrics.
