Full kit and pattern for Miss Sally in the autumn block of the month quilt

. Please consider carefully before starting a block of the month on whether you are able to purchase all the patterns. It can be difficult for me to sell the remaining blocks of an incomplete quilt. :)

The BOM is £34 a month plus postage and runs for 9 months. Postage to the UK is an additional £1.75 and overseas is £5 a month. After the first month I'll be in touch with a paypal invoice each month for the remaining 8 months.

The quilt will measures 40 by 40" and has a patchwork background with raw edge applique animals. I use no glue, paints, or fusible. Just fabric and thread. There will be a central block, and eight surrounding blocks with Miss Sally the Shrew. The outer 2" of the quilt will have a slightly lighter background.

Sally is an expert crafter and can turn her hand to knitting, spinning, dyeing fibres and sewing. She enjoys long walks, foraging for fleece and food, and is an expert baker.

I'm doing this one as a mystery block of the month. It will be the same background patchwork design as the Poppy and Flo quilt (last picture) but with background patchwork in plums, pinks, purples, tans and touches of green. The quilt is set in autumn and will celebrate the last of the late summer flowers and be very colourful.
I'll be making at least one block a month to stay ahead of dispatching. You can wait until the end to join so you can see the full quilt but I'm only cutting a very limited number and when they are gone they are gone!

The quilt itself is in my usual style, so it is a patchwork background with raw edge applique sewn with free motion embroidery. You don't need a fancy machine to sew it but your machine needs to be able to do free motion embroidery. The pattern contains basic instructions for the patchwork. I don't go into a lot of detail on patchwork as I am assuming that you know the basics but other than the odd half square triangle, it is all pretty simple. The kits contain the fabrics, freezer paper and stabilizer you will need to complete the top. You will need to purchase your own threads but I do list every thread that I use so you can use the same if you wish to. The fabrics are supplied as a rectangle/square big enough for the shape you need. No laser cutting so you are relying on freezer paper/pencil and scissors to cut the shapes out yourself. I like this step as it is quite therapeutic. I label all the fabrics with little stickers which tell you what they are to be used for so it makes it a little easier to know which bit goes where. I use raw edge techniques and the patterns are using those instructions, but you could also use needle turn techniques, but no instructions will be given. For some of the pieces, you would need additional fabric to use needle-turn. I do give a little extra, but it might be tight on some of the smaller pieces and you would need to purchase additional fabric.

Hopefully that all makes sense, but please don't hesitate to ask if anything is unclear.-------------------------------
