Handspun herdwick wool - aran weight - natural wool

Handspun 2 ply aran weight herdwick wool. This is under natural wool and is a warm grey with lighter and darker fibres.
The hank weighs 46 grammes and is 66m in length.
It is 2 plyed.
Herdwick is a famous breed from the Lake district in England and is renowned for its hard wearing and water resistant abilities. While the wool is soft, it is also hairy and would be better, in my opinion not put direct against the skin as you might find it a bit itchy compared so softer wools like merino. It would make an excellent wool for a hat!
Hand spun wool tends to have a denser core so the normal length versus weight can be misleading and it is better to focus on the wraps per inch. This wool is 9 wraps per inch and is classed as an aran weight.
As it is hand spun there are areas of thinner or fluffier and this part of having hand spun wool.
The wool should be hand washed in cool water and dried flat. Do not tumble dry or agitate heavily as it might felt.

I can spin up more if this fleece to make more wool is you need more fit a project but there may be variations in colour as it is a natural fibre.

The patterns themselves assume you will be using standard sewing equipment like rotary cutters, scissors, needles and sewing machines. You should take suitable care when following the instructions and do so at your own risk. The patterns are intended for adults and if older children are following using them, it should only be done under the careful supervision of a responsible adult.

Descriptions of contents:

Printed patterns contain printed paper and are packaged in a grip seal polythene plastic bag.

Digital patterns consist of a PDF that is downloaded by the customer.

Fabric kits contain printed paper, cotton and cotton/linen blend fabrics, waxed freezer paper, adhesive labels and a paper-based tearaway stabiliser, packaged in a grip seal polythene plastic bag.

Fabric panels contain cotton fabric packaged in a grip seal polythene plastic bag.

Finished fabric pieces contain cotton and cotton blend fabrics, polyester wadding, cotton, polyester and rayon embroidery threads. Packaged in tissue paper.

Handspun wool: contains wool (with silk if stated). Packed in a plastic bag.
