Printed pattern for Month 5 of the Christmas Ball Block of the Month.
Block 5: Two pairs of waltzing mice with a trumpet player and a mother and daughter with a trifle and a garland of stars at the Christmas ball on a patchwork background, measuring 7 by 19" finished.
The full quilt is a deep palette of navy blues with a very dark blue Christmas wreath surrounded by ballroom dancing mice, trifles, jellies, lots of stars and garlands, and musicians. This quilt measures 26 by 26"" and would be ideal on the wall. It is made from a central block 12" square block and a further four surrounding blocks to make a total of 5.
Each block will cost £29 (with the last block reduced by the deposit) plus postage. Postage for the UK is £1 per month, and oversea is £4 per month. You can also choose to have all the blocks delivered in one go and I will only charge for postage once.
There are a limited number of places for the block of the month on a first come first serve.
I expect to start the block of the month by the end of November, and I will be in touch with a paypal invoice sent to the email you give with the deposit order. There won't be anything to ship with the deposit order.
(Please consider whether you intend to do the full series before signing up as I will struggle to sell your unwanted blocks if you change your mind.)
The quilt itself is in my usual style, so it is a patchwork background with raw edge applique sewn with free motion embroidery. You don't need a fancy machine to sew it but your machine needs to be able to do free motion embroidery. The pattern contains basic instructions for the patchwork. I don't go into a lot of detail on patchwork as I am assuming that you know the basics but other than the odd half square triangle, it is all pretty simple. The kits contain the fabrics, freezer paper and stabilizer you will need to complete the top. You will need to purchase your own threads but I do list every thread that I use so you can use the same if you wish to. The fabrics are supplied as a rectangle/square big enough for the shape you need. No laser cutting so you are relying on freezer paper/pencil and scissors to cut the shapes out yourself. I like this step as it is quite therapeutic. I label all the fabrics with little stickers which tell you what they are to be used for so it makes it a little easier to know which bit goes where. I use raw edge techniques and the patterns are using those instructions, but I will put in sufficient fabric that you could also use needle turn techniques, but no instructions will be given.
Hopefully that all makes sense, but please don't hesitate to ask if anything is unclear..
